Nearby Activities

There is plenty to do along the Bodrum Peninsula and Yalikavak Holiday Gardens is a great base to explore the area from. In Yalikavak you can take a boat trip from the old harbour along the beautiful coastline for the day, this is highly recommended.

Yalikavak Palmarina is a brand new, multi-million pound marina on the edges of the old town that is brimming with designer shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. If you enjoy the finer things in life you definitely need to visit here. You can stroll around and look at the huge super-yachts moored here before enjoying a meal. There are plans to expand this further and you will also soon be able to catch a ferry over to the neighbouring Greek Island of Kos, direct from Yalikavak Marina.

If waterparks are your thing there is a great one in Ortakent on the outskirts of Bodrum, only around 20 minutes from Yalikavak by Dolmus bus. This is one of the largest and oldest parks in Turkey and it has lots on offer from scary kamikaze slides to a huge wave pool. Just remember your sun lotion as it gets very hot there with little shelter.

Bodrum is full of history and you can easily reach the centre of town to explore Bodrum Castle or the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.

History buffs will also enjoy a trip to Gumusluk which is built on the ancient city of Myndos, a World Heritage Site.

Beach lovers will love Yalikavak. There are free sun loungers all along the narrow sandy beaches and good quality bars and restaurants all along the beachfront serving food and drinks from morning until night. Yalikavak is also a popular windsurfing spot so try your hand at this during your stay.

Tips

Go there if: You are travelling with children. Yalikavak Holiday Gardens is a fantastic family resort with all amenities close by. The many pools onsite mean they are never overcrowded, even if you don’t have your own private pool. The restaurant and shop onsite are very handy if you have young children and you like to be close to home in the evening to dine or relax on the terrace while the children sleep.

Avoid if: You are going on holiday to party. This is a relaxed family-orientated resort. If you want the party lifestyle you may be better off staying a little closer to Bodrum. The bars in Yalikavak stay open until the early hours but it is still a more relaxed atmosphere here with late bars, rather than the huge nightclubs you can find in Bodrum.
