Spain Welcomes a Record Number of Holidaymakers

Spain welcomes record holidaymakers for 2014 by Panoramic Villas

According to a recent report Spain welcomed a record number of visitors in August 2014, topping 9.1 million international arrivals! UK visitors made up the largest proportion of this with over 23% of all international visits in August coming from the UK. This represents a massive 8.8% rise in the number of visitors compared to 2013 which is fantastic news for Spanish tourism, and owners of holiday villas and apartments.

While Spain as a whole saw a huge increase in international visitors, certain regions saw the biggest upsurge in visitors from overseas. Madrid had a massive 19.1% increase and the Canary Islands welcomed 12.4% more visitors in August 2014 than the previous year.

Andalucia received 1.2 million international arrivals, an increase of 5.6% in August. In fact, since January 2014 this popular region has seen 5.9 million international visitors flock to the Costa del Sol in search of sun, sea and sangria. Overall tourist expenditure has also increased by 14.9% year on year to €6.4 billion. All this is very positive news for business owners on the Costa del Sol when the recession had seen so many bars, restaurants and shops closing in the region. Things really are on the upturn.

At Panoramic Villas we have also felt the effect of this with bookings for Spain up a whopping 13.75% on 2013 and bookings for 2015 are already rolling in. Renting private villas and apartments in Spain is starting to rival hotels as the most popular choice for holidaymakers with 30% more visitors choosing this option compared to August 2013.

It is no surprise that that private villa holidays are becoming increasingly popular as more and more holidaymakers are realising that they offer greater freedom, choice and value for money than staying in a hotel. Booking early for summer 2015 is recommended to ensure you get the villa or apartment you want as things look set to be even busier in August next year.

Unsurprisingly, over 72% of all international visitors arrived in Spain by plane in August 2014. The good news is that there are now more flights than ever serving the major airports in Spain, offering visitors a wider choice of fares, arrival times and destination airports.

Spain has so much to offer, with beautiful beaches, whitewashed villages, friendly locals, endless sunshine, delicious food and lots more that it is easy to see why more and more people are choosing to visit this great country. Why not book your Spanish getaway with Panoramic Villas today and enjoy your own slice of the action?
