As resorts go in the Canary Islands, Corralejo to the north of Fuerteventura is one of the prettiest, especially around the harbour and just south at the beaches fronting the sublime sand dunes which form part of Corralejo Natural Park, a protected area. Although Corralejo is a bustling Fuerteventura holiday resort, the tourism here is not overwhelming and there's a chilled out vibe to this pretty resort. Corralejo's edge might be to do with the fact that it's not just a manmade resort - there's been a thriving fishing industry here for years, plus the pleasent harbour and old town bordering the harbour is a delightful area, crammed with arts and crafts stalls, specialist shops and friendly chic bars. With its own waterpark, the Atlantico Shopping centre, tidy promenade and stretch of beach along Avenida Grandes Playas, Corralejo combines good resort facilities with an attractive setting. A please all resort, with a nature park nearby, excellent surfing, diving and sailing and easy access to Lanzarote and Los Lobos Island via the harbour.
