In Cape Verde it's always summer time. Temperatures in winter are an average of 10 degrees warmer than the Canaries and the sea surrounding the islands is just as warm, making this a great all year round destination.

The beaches in Cape Verde are undoubtedly some of the best in the world. Think bright white sands lapped by crystal clear turquoise waters- Cape Verde can offer you Caribbean-style beaches in half the time it takes to get to the Caribbean! With flight times from the UK generally being around 5 1/4 hours you can experience paradise much closer to home.

The Cape Verde Islands are great for watersports enthusiasts with some of the world's best windsurfers and kite-surfers choosing this as their training ground. The waters surrounding the islands are also great for spotting brightly coloured tropical fish, dolphins, Loggerhead turtles and even Humpback whales. If you're more of a sun worshipper you'll be just as happy lay on the beautiful beaches taking in the scenery with a cold drink.

Cape Verde is made up of the ten islands Santo Antao, Sao Vicente, Santa Luzia, Sao Nicolau, Sal, Bao Vista, Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava. The most developed of the islands are Sal and Boa Vista and that's probably due to their accessibility (Sal has the only major airport of the islands) and also their great beaches. Explore Boa Vista's sand dunes on a quad bike or wander through the cobbled streets of Santa Maria on Sal admiring the brightly painted Portugese-style houses.

Whichever island you choose you will find welcoming locals who love nothing better than dancing to live music and having a good time. Your evenings will be filled with an infectious beat, great food and flowing drinks. If you want a hot spot all year round then Cape Verde is certainly the place to be.
