About the area

Sierra Nevada is Europe’s southern most ski resort and offers more than 115 runs over 100km’s of snow covered mountains.  Sierra Nevada’s fantastic location means that you are just a two hire drive from the coast of the Costa Del Sol and just 30 minutes from the culture packed city of Granada.  If you wanted the best of both worlds you could ski in the morning and enjoy time on a sandy beach in the afternoon.

The pistes offer skiing and snowboarding for all levels with an excellent variety of runs.   There are 16 green runs, 40 blue runs, 50 red runs and 9 Black runs.  There is also a 4km cross skiing circuit should you wish to try out a new skill.

Pradollano is the centre of the ski village. From this point you can use two gondolas and two chairlifts that will take you to the Borreguiles ski station which is set at 2.645 metres. From there you have access to a total of 80 slopes.  For the more adventurous you can move further on access other runs such as Laguna de las Yeguas and Lomar de Dilar and Veleta.   The resort offers some fantastic long sweeping runs such as Monte Bajo whilst the red runs of Veleta and Laguna de las Yeguas offer excitement and a real challenge.  These areas also tend to be a little quieter.
Sierra Nevada is a great place to introduce yourself to skiing.  There is a great range of ski schools with top instructors and the nursery slopes are ideal for beginners.  The nursery slopes have the added bonus of the use of “magic carpets” which are moving conveyors that easilt transport skiers to the top of the slope.

If you are worried about a lack of snow in the Sierra Nevada’s then this problem has been solved with the introduction of 300 snow making machines dotted all round the slopes
Pradollano with its attractive Plaza de Andalucía is the real heart of the resort and boasts a fantastic array of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants as well as ski and board hire.  There is also an ice rink as well as child care facilities so that the adults can head off into the mountains whilst the children enjoy everything a winter surrounding has to offer.  There is also the opportunity to try out dog sledding and the snow board park.

Unlike some resorts in Europe snowboarders are made very welcome and the two codes of skiing and boarding are easily and efficiently accommodated.

The slopes of the Sierra Nevada are open from 09:00 am to 5:00pm.  If this is not enough for some then night skiing is available on Saturdays from 7:00pm to 09:30pm on the El Rio run.
For those who prefer night time for their Apres Ski then Sierra Nevadas nightlife doesn’t disappoint.  There is something for everyone from refined restaurants to all night discos.  There is also a strong cafe culture with superb cafes terraces up on the slopes whilst the cafes in the village are the ideal spots for a warming drink before heading back to get changed for the nights festivities.
