Rawai

Rawai holds the distinction of being Phukets first ever tourist beach.  Years ago people used to travel from Phuket City to spend their weekends on the beach at Rawai.  Nowadays Rawai is much quieter and is not as well known to tourists as some of the busier resorts.  However, there are a few 5 star resorts in the area like Evason and Mangosteen and this is a hot spot for expats meaning that the area has a very laid back, bohemian feel to it.

Although Rawai is quieter than the likes of Patong it doesn't mean there is nothing going on here.  There are a number of great restaurants in Rawai serving both Thai cuisine and international dishes and a number of good seafood restaurants line the beach.  There is also a good choice of bars in the area and there is a friendly atmosphere due to the number of expats in the town.

Rawai has all the facilities you will need during your stay including ATM Machines and supermarkets nearby.  For fresh produce there is also the local market where you can buy wonderful fruit and veg off the friendly locals.

Rawai beach is beautiful and very peaceful but there are also other great beaches close by like Mai Harn, Kata and Karon Beach.  Being based in Rawai also means that you are close to attractions like the Big Buddha and Chalong Temple- both are well worth a visit.
