About the area
Thailand is an unforgettable country. It offers holidaymakers a vast array of different experiences. The vibrant city of Bangkok is unlike any other in the world, where ancient temples sit just metres away from huge, glistening shopping malls. Visit the famous Koh San Road and pick up some great bargains- everything from 'designer' handbags to wooden arts and crafts. No trip to Bangkok is is complete without trying the noodles (Phad Thai) served by street hawkers, the best you'll taste anywhere! Bangkok is an attack on the senses.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the cities there are many beautiful islands off the south coast of Thailand which offer picture-postcard beaches lined by chilled out beach bars and restaurants. Phuket is the largest of the islands and has its own international airport making it one of the most popular destinations for tourists. Nonetheless you can still find beaches that are relatively untouched and the island is small enough for you to explore by bicycle and find your own piece of heaven. Koh Samui, koh Tao and Koh Pangnan are a haven for backpackers but you can also find luxury, boutique resorts on the islands offering world-class accommodation.
The food in Thailand is amazing; fresh seafood and spicy local dishes will literally blow you away! For those of you that are less adventurous wherever you are in Thailand you will also find a vast array of restaurants serving international cuisine.
In the north of Thailand you will find Chiang Mai, a bustling ancient city surrounded by breathtaking mountains and lush green forrests. Amongst these mountains are some of the most impressive example of elaborate Buddhist temples in Thailand.
Thailand may be the most visited of all the countries in Southeast Asia but you can still find parts of the country that seem to be untouched. Whether you want absolute luxury or an escape from the trappings of everyday life you will find what you're looking for in Thailand (and want to come back for more!)
