Eating Out (Walking Distance from Villa Bella Vista, Casa Paseros & Villa Sonja)
For those occasions when, after a hard day’s sunbathing, even a five minute car drive or taxi ride into town seems like a bridge too far, there are a number of conveniently located restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of our Villas.
Literally within a few hundred yards there is the ‘El Potro’ restaurant and bar. This is a British owned establishment, and it offers good food (from fish & chips to steak) at reasonable prices. There is a choice of eating quietly on the extensive patio, or joining in with the very British atmosphere downstairs in the Sports Bar.
Going past El Potro, and another 10 minutes walk on downhill, will bring you into the residential area of ‘El Coto’ where a choice of restaurants and bars are available (in addition to a supermarket, chemists and newsagents). The main ‘El Coto’ restaurant and bar, situated next to the supermarket, has a massive part-covered patio – excellent for whiling away the lunchtime or evening hours during the warmer months. Indoors the upstairs restaurant offers very pleasant decor and a warming log fire for those cooler winter evenings. Food at ‘El Coto’ both inside and out is good value and excellent quality.
El Castillo (Walking Distance)
Whilst beautifully located only 5 minutes from Mijas Villa and 10 minutes from Fuengirola we would suggest the use of the local taxi service or car hire would be essential.
Eating Out (Fuengirola)
Restaurants in Fuengirola number in their thousands. Business cards and phone numbers for our favourites are pinned to the notice boards in each Villa. Enjoy!
Supermarkets (Local)
The ‘El Coto’ supermarket (see "Eating Out: Walking Distance", above) offers pretty much everything you will want for convenient day-to-day shopping. With excellent butchery and fresh produce departments and, of course, the all-important extensive booze range!
The Euromarket (5 minutes by car through ‘El Coto’ to main roundabout, turn right, 100 yards on the right) is the be-all and end-all of supermarkets… Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys all rolled into one! There is nothing you could reasonably ask for that isn’t sold here. With simply stunning selections of fresh fish, cheeses, wines etc. They even provide British newspapers and a cash machine. You name it: It’s available!
Local Attractions
Even if the sun doesn’t shine and the golf doesn’t appeal, there are so many other wonderful attractions, towns and cities to visit that it is almost impossible to list them all. However, we provide a selection of tourist leaflets in each villa with details of many local attractions, complete with directions.
Within a very short drive of the villa you will find ample entertainment for all the family, whatever the age group!
Children
Fuengirola Town – Apart from two McDonald’s, the beach, a multitude of seafront shops and rides, there are also the zoo and the water park, both of which are very easy to find and well worth a visit.
Benalmadena – Tivoli world at Benalmadena (15 min. drive) is a must for all ages, and opens in the evenings. There are plenty of ‘Disney’ type rides for the kids and spectacular fireworks and shows for Mums and Dads.
Adults
Mijas – The oldest town in Spain (10 mins. by car) is a must visit with its tiny historical bull ring, spectacular views and its quaint houses, bars and shops.
Puerto Banus/ Marbella – View the boats… spot the celebs… all in one of Europe’s trendiest harbours!
Rhonda - (1 hour by car) head for Marbella/ San Pedro (turn right) or alternatively through Coin. Simply stunning scenery and views, like Mijas! You’ll like Rhonda – bigger, higher and even more spectacular!
Building Work
Even in the very best of locations some noise from building work is sometimes unavoidable as the demand for new accommodation increases. There is a possibility that local authorities or developers may be in the process of carrying out construction work on neighbouring or nearby properties over which we have no control. We are given no prior notice of such work but, in any event, we always do our best to inform you of the facts in advance. If this is not possible, then please accept our apologies.
