Agadir Marina Revisited

Agadir Marina revisited by Panoramic Villas

One of our roving reporters has just returned from Agadir in Morocco so we thought it would be a good time to reappraise the merits of one of our favourite and increasingly popular all year round destinations.

Every year for the past few years the Panoramic Villas Spain-based staff (at the kind invite of one of our property owners in Agadir) receive an invite to soak up the sun for a few days in an apartment in Agadir Marina. It is most certainly the highlight of winter. Here is a fist-hand view of what Agadir Marina has to offer, directly from a member of our team…

Today, 25 February at 4pm local time, it is a lovely 26 degrees Celsius and we are basking on the terrace. Enough! I hear you say; what is Agadir like apart from the great weather?

Firstly, (and refreshingly) on the Marina you don’t need a car as there are literally hundreds of bars and restaurants within easy walk of your door. The beach is also just a few steps away, and what a wonderful beach; 10 kilometres of golden sand and an ocean that seldom drops below 21 degrees all year round.

There is a supermarket, fashion stores galore, chemist, a car hire company and dozens of places to eat and drink, all just a short stroll away.

Agadir Marina is relatively new. It is clean, safe and it’s constantly developing. Every year when we visit something else has opened and catches our eye. So what’s to tell that hasn’t had a mention before on the Marina?

Havana Restaurant

Situated immediately opposite the beach as you enter the marina, you can’t miss it. It is as bright red as is the owners Ferrari which is always parked outside…flashy? Yes! Good quality? Oh yes!

Havana is pizza restaurant/salad bar and an a la Carte restaurant all rolled into one. You can eat on a budget or push the boat out with a steak. If you are just grabbing a snack or eating cheap try the pizzas, all of them! Don’t mix these up with Domino’s or Pizza Hut pizzas, these are made fresh before your eyes. A thin crust piled high to your liking with the finest ingredients, wonderful and all for 45 Dirhams or £3.05 sterling.

You can even walk down to the restaurant of an evening and collect a take away. Another tip is to try the ‘Flag’ draught lager on offer here. As most Moroccan beer is bottled this is one of the few places that you can get a really great beer. It doesn’t get much better for the money.

The Pool Bar

This is a relatively new facility on the Marina. The Marina Apartments already have 3 huge free pools at the disposal of the guests, but the Pool Bar is a private establishment located right on the Marina (past Zara clothes shop.) It is situated high up on the roof of a building and it has a wonderful, huge infinity swimming pool which overlooks the ocean. The pool and the ocean appear to both merge in together and it’s a great view. The Pool Bar is also a great spot for a bit of sunbathing. You will be expected to hire a lounger and or buy a drink from the bar in order to use the pool and facilities, but it’s not much… and it’s definitely worth it!
