Tuzla, Bodrum

My Beach Resort near Lake TuzlaTuzla is a quiet area and although there is plenty to do around the site and beaches are accessible we do recommend you hire a car for getting around there are buses that go into Bodrum if you wish to go further afield or do not like the idea of driving.

There are 2 beaches close by and we particularly enjoyed ‘My beach’ it was easy to get to as there were taxis outside the resort that took you there for free and charged 10lira to come back.  It is a lovely sandy beach, very peaceful with beautiful views.  We are keen walkers so often took off for a walk around the area but mostly enjoyed walking around the lake, which was very idyllic.

One of our reason for going to Tuzla was that it is near a golf course as my boyfriend enjoys his golf so he had a few games at the Tuzla Golf Club and rated it very highly. It is quite open so you do need to ensure you have plenty of sun cream and a hat.  He golfed and I soaked up the sun.

On a couple of nights we ate out at the Sunset bar as well as tried the restaurants on the other sites. There is a small shop on site and a couple of small supermarkets nearby that we picked up bits n pieces from.

The small nearby fishing village of Gulluk is worth a visit there are many restaurant to choose from and a few shops. Whilst there we arranged a boat trip which was also another good day out

We visited Milas which is steeped in history and took a walk up to the ruin of Becin Castle then headed to Lambranda and a few other historic sites. The old towns of Milas are still visible as you walk around the small side streets and see the ottoman style houses. We ate in a lovely Lokanta and sampled Turkish hospitality at its best. The owner and food was excellent.  Whilst there some locals told us about market day so along we went the following Tuesday and it was super, we much preferred this to the Bodrum market as it wasn’t so touristy. Its more a local market that sold everything from vegetables, clothing, and food to household stuff and we had fun bargaining.

We did a day trip to Pamukkale, which was quite spectacular.

Toward the end of our holiday we went into Bodrum for the day and as we left we took a wrong turn and ended up heading toward Gumbet. I am glad we did, as there is a spectacular view atop the hill where you can see across the two bays and the view of the castle is quite something.

We really enjoyed our vacation in Tuzla as it’s away from the hussle n bustle of the more touristy sites there was plenty to do and it’s within reach of the bigger towns.
