Introduction to Arroyo de la Miel

Arroyo de la Miel (meaning stream of honey) is in the municipality of Benalmadena and lie to the north east of the town. Once a village in its own right this area is brimming with shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. It is a great spot for family holidays and it is only a 5 minute drive from the beaches and the bustling marina in Benalmadena Costa.

Points of Interest

The main attractions in Arroyo de la Miel are Tivoli World amusement park and the cable cars which take passengers to the summit of Mount Calamorro.

Tivoli World is the largest family entertainment park on the Costa del Sol with rollercoasters, go karts, amusements and shows galore. Just next to the entrance to Tivoli World you can also catch the Telecabina (cable car) which take you up to the highest point in the Malaga region; you can see Morocco and the Sierra Nevada mountain range on a good day.

At the top of the cable car you can also visit the Garden of the Eagles, a bird of prey sanctuary, where you can watch falconry shows and view magnificent birds. If you like nature you may also want to visit the Butterfly Park in the area.

Arroyo de la Miel has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars on the main high street. There are also banks, chemists and a post office. It also has a large municipal pool that visitors can use for a small fee.

Unusually, Arroyo de la Miel is also home to a Buddhist Temple!

Travel Information

Arroyo de la Miel is around 15 minutes’ drive from Malaga Airport. It also has a train station which is located near to Tivoli World and this connects you to Malaga, Benalmadena and Fuengirola. The train service from Malaga Airport is regular, cheap and reliable so this is a great way to get to Arroyo de la Miel if you don’t wish to hire a car.


Arroyo de la Miel has a huge choice of self-catering properties. There are many apartments and a range of villas in this desirable holiday resort.
