An Introduction to Benalmadena, Spain

Over the past decade, Benalmadena has fast become one of the go-to areas on the Costa del Sol, well known for its exciting nightlife and laid back, friendly atmosphere.

The area is situated in the middle of Torremolinos and Fuengirolaand is only a short 20 minute drive to the bustling city of Marbella, where you will find a whole host of award winning beaches, bars and bistros to enjoy.

You will also discover the wonderful club house, strategically located between the two courses, that is fully equipped with changing rooms, a reception area and restaurant, where you can relax in the large terrace and enjoy the Costa del Sol sunshine.

This stunning Andalusian Farmhouse becomes the starting and arrival point for all players, either beginning or concluding a round on either of the two courses.

A History of Benalmadena

Benalmadena, and others surrounding areas, have an elongated, diverse past. The area became a crucial part of defence from seaborne raids, and was once known as Vigia de la Costa, which translates to "lookout for the coast".

As a result, three prominent lookout towers were built, and the remains can still be seen to this day. Torre Bermeja is situated in Benalmadena Costa, close to the marina, and the other two can be discovered at Torrequebrada and Torremuelle.

By the early 60’s, when package holidays were making a name for themselves, many tourists set foot to the Costa del Sol from all across Northern Europe, and the town hasn’t looked back since.

The 70’s was an exciting time for development as locals watched on and experienced the opening of Tivoli World, the areas most popular theme park, along with the construction of Benalmadena Pueblo, which was open to the public to enjoy in the early 80’s.
