Information on Cabopino

Introduction to Cabopino

Cabopino is a small harbour village with its own marina and beach. It is a popular destination with both tourists and expats. The lovely beaches on either side of the Marina are rarely overcrowded and feature natural sand dunes and an ancient watchtower.

Cabopino is in a natural harbour, located on the Costa del Sol, in the province in Malaga. It is equally between both Marbella and Fuengirola.

Cabopino has its own golf course, backed by pine-clad rolling hills and mountains.

There is a wide range of water sports available. And many popular beach restaurants serving fresh seafood dishes.

History of Cabopino

The history of Cabopino is similar to the rest of the Costa del Sol. The area has been occupied by different cultures for thousands of years, including the Romans.

The Moors constructed the Torre Ladrones watchtower during the Arab occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. Its role was defensive and protected the locals from coastal raids and attacks.

The area was conquered by Christian forces during the Reconquista and reorganised. Cabopino was developed during the Spanish tourism boom in the ‘50s and ‘60s, becoming the charming tourist marina that it is now.
