Introduction to Costa Blanca South

The South Costa Blanca begins just beneath the city of Alicante where the coast becomes much drier and flatter than in the north. The Costa Blanca South is renowned for its beautiful beaches, excellent golf courses and charming holiday villas.

We provide holiday rentals in some of the Costa Blanca South’s most popular tourist destinations, including:

  • Pilar de la Horadada - A seaside town on the Mediterranean coast south of Alicante. Pilar de la Horadada is a paradise for tourists and offers everything you would need to have a terrific holiday including beautiful beaches, historical sites of interest, shops and restaurants and plenty of activities to take part in.

  • El Pinar de Campoverde- A charming village located in a pine forest covered hillside of the Costa Blanca. Campoverde is popular with British expats and has a wide range of amazing villas available to rent. Explore the beautiful natural surroundings of this peaceful village.

History of Costa Blanca South

Similar to much of the Mediterranean coastline of Spain, the south of the Costa Blanca has been settled by many different cultures throughout history. From classical cultures such as Carthaginians and Romans to the early medieval kingdoms of the Visigoths and the Moors this part of Spain benefits from a rich and varied cultural history.

The Costa Blanca South has been the site of many battles throughout history between many different warring kingdoms. The region was captured by Christian forces during the Reconquista against the Islamic kingdoms that held it before it became a strategic area between the two Spanish kingdoms of Castille and Aragon which often warred between themselves until the Unification of Spain.

In the present, the Costa Blanca South has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its beautiful beaches, warm climate and wide range of attractions and many holiday villas have been built to accommodate tourists and expats moving to the area.

Things to do in Costa Blanca South

The Costa Blanca South boasts a wide range of attractions for the visitors and expats who frequent the area. With beautiful beaches, historical and cultural sites, plenty of shops and boutiques, natural parks to explore and a variety of sporting opportunities, there is plenty for you to choose from during your vacation.

To help you make a start to your holiday planning here are 5 of our top things to do in Costa Blanca South.

  • Gratiniano Baches Museo - An archaeological and ethnological museum in Pilar de la Horadada that is made up of 5 different sections. These sections have a wide range of artefacts and cover the archaeology, environment, fossils, ethnology and a coin collection. All of the exhibits relate to local life and the history of the region and is a great way to explore the town’s history and culture.

  • Lo Romero Golf Course - One of the most popular golf courses in Costa Blanca South. The golf course at Lo Romero is a par 72 course that ends in a challenging hole with an island green. The course is well maintained and is very pleasant to play with a beautiful natural backdrop.

  • Rio Seca Nature Park - A very scenic walk along the (usually) dry river bed of the Rio Seca. Take in the peculiar environment and curious rock formations that have been carved out by the passage of water over the years in this gorge. Also, take in the cool fresh air of the pine forest scented by the wild-growing herbs.

  • La Torre de la Horadada - A fun day trip during your visit to Costa Blanca South. This medieval watchtower was originally built to defend the area against pirate attacks. A small beach town has grown around it with charming restaurants and beach bars to visit after enjoying the beach here.

  • Sailing and Fishing Trips - The marina near Pilar de la Horadada provides ample opportunity to join a sailing or fishing trip out into the calm and clear waters of the Mediterranean. Once you are there try your hand at fishing, swimming in the sea or just relax on the deck, listening to the sound of the waves and basking in the sun.
