El Coto is an esteemed residential urbanisation situated at the heart of the Costa del Sol on Mijas Costa. Just 20 minutes’ drive from Malaga Airport and 5 minutes’ from popular Fuengirola, this lovely urbanisation has a great range of local amenities within walking distance of its many holiday villas and apartments.

El Coto has a handful of good places to eat.  From El Brujo that serves traditional Spanish and English dishes, to The Palace of India that serves delicious Indian cuisine to eat in or take out.  The locals in the area love the fantastic bakery in El Coto and there is a café right next door so you can enjoy a coffee and a croissant at your leisure. 

You can easily catch a bus into Fuengirola from the centre of El Coto and there is also a taxi rank so you can jump into a cab whener you like and visit the nearby towns of Mijas, Marbella and Benalmadena.

Introduction to El Coto

Urbanisation El Coto is a sought after residential area situated just 5 minutes from both Fuengirola and Mijas.  El Coto is perfect for guests staying in Villas in Las Sierrezuela, El Coto and Campo Mijas as it can be reached on foot. 

Unlike many urbanisations on the Costa del Sol, El Coto also has a ‘village centre’ with a selection of good restaurants, a supermarket, bakery, chemist, pizzeria, childrens play park, cafe, hairdressers.  This provides you with the opportunity to dine close to home or pick up those shopping essentials. El Coto also has a direct bus route into Fuengirola so getting into town is a breeze.  There is also a taxi rank on hand if you don\\\\\\\'t fancy the walk home or want to explore further afield without driving.

Points of Interest

El Coto is a desirable area with a good selection of villas and apartments occupied by locals and holidaymakers alike. The centre of the urbanisation is located just off the Avenida de Mijas that runs down into Fuengirola and up into Mijas so it really is perfectly located to explore the coast and the beautiful Mijas mountain range.

El Coto has a good choice of restaurants that cater for all tastes. El Brujo is a family run restaurant that specialises in traditional British and Spanish food. They also serve up a great Sunday lunch that you can enjoy in the cosy restaurant or on the garden terrace.  Ray and his team will ensure you feel right at home as you browse the menu and order your drinks.  There is a pool table on hand indoors whilst outside there is a childrens play area where they can also see the guinea pigs and goldfish.  

Other good restaurants include The Palace of India, where you are sure to recieve a warm welcome and some of the best Indian food you will have tasted.  The restaurant is fully licensed and has a superb range of meals on its menu. 

Across the road you will find the excellent Verona restaurant which is perfect for families.  Here you will be spoilt with a choice of Italian, Indian and Mexican food all at excellent prices.  The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is of an excellent quality.  You can choose to sit inside or or out on the terrace area. Parts of the terrace are always in the sun so you can choose if you want to soak up some sunshine with your meal and drinks or find a shaded spot. They have a fully stocked bar with alcoholic and soft drinks.  They are open from 1pm to 11:30pm daily.  The staff at both restaurants can speak English and Spanish so getting what you need is no problem. 

If you want to dine at home during your stay in El Coto, The Palace of India and Verona offer a takeaway service and there is also a pizza takeaway shop that delivers right to your door. For those that like to relax with a café Café Lito is a perfect for coffee and cake as there is a wonderful bakery attached to it which is very popular with the locals.

El Coto is within easy reach of a multitude of amenities and activities including several golf courses, watersports centres in Fuengirola, horse riding, tennis clubs and quad biking. Ramblers will find endless pathways and routes through the mountains to explore.

El Coto Weather

El Coto enjoys the same great weather as the rest of the Costa del Sol; warm summers and mild winters with very little rainfall. Being close to the coast you get a refreshing sea breeze in summer which is relief as temperatures can soar into the high 30s.

Travel Information

El Coto is around 20 minutes’ drive from Malaga Airport. It is just 5 to 10 minutes’ drive into Fuengirola if you wish to get the train from the airport and take a taxi from here. Taxis are readily available from the neighbouring Urbanisation El Coto and there is a useful tariff board that informs you of the taxi rates before you start your journey.


Urbanisation El Coto has villas, townhouses and apartments to suit all group sizes and budgets. This area is popular with locals as well as tourists and this is reflected in the well-maintained homes and gardens in the area. Most villas in El Coto enjoy a good level of privacy as homes have been built on good plot sizes, not right on top of each other.
