Introduction to El Pinar de Campoverde

History of El Pinar de Campoverde

El Pinar de Campoverde was developed in the mid-1980s during the tourism boom that brought many British, German and other European expats to the area. Originally, the area had been a large pine forest that bordered the Rio Seca river.

Much of the wooded areas were cleared for orange and lemon groves when the area began being used for agricultural reasons.

The name “El Pinar de Campoverde” comes from the fact that the area was a pine forest (Pinar) and that the area was a greenfield (Campo Verde).

An interesting and fun fact about El Pinar de Campoverde is that all of the streets and avenues in the town are named after a plant or herb, such as Calle Bosque (Forest Street) or Calle Lavanda ( Lavender Street).
