Introduction to Mijas

Mijas is an Andalusian municipality in the western part of the Costa del Sol.  Mijas is the perfect holiday destination as it offers something for everyone.  Mijas Pueblo itself is steeped in culture and history whilst the coastline has 12 kilometres of of award winning Blue Flag beaches.  There are plenty of local activities in Mijas including watersports, tennis, horse riding, cycling, theme parks, zoo and much more.  Mijas is surrounded by impressive holiday Villas in which to base your stay where you can enjoy time by your private pool before heading out to explore the wonders Mijas has to offer.

History of Mijas

As records for Mijas date back to the second century AD, this locality is a place with interesting historical sites to visit. The tour could take in the Museo de las Torres Vigçías (Watch Towers Museum), the Casa Museo (House Museum), the Inmaculada Concepción church, the Virgen de la Peña (Virgin of the Rock) religious retreat and a trip to Plaza de Toros (a traditional bull ring).

Points of interest in Mijas 

Aside from checking out the cultural history of Mijas and relaxing on one of its superb nearby beaches.  The real centre of Mijas is Mijas Pueblo where you can take in some truly breathtaking views from the towns high vantage point.  The town is extremely tourist-friendly with an array of independent shops to browse through along with quaint tapas bars and restaurants that line the narrow cobbled streets.  Mijas town square is a real sun trap and is the perfect spot for some lunch or a refreshing drink. If you are looking for something more active then there are miles and miles of trails through the campo or if you want to keep the children happy then the Mijas Aqua Park provides plenty of water filled fun.

This popular Costa del Sol destination with its Mediterranean climate will provide you with all the sun you could want during the warm summer months from late May until the end of September but Mijas is a location where you can expect great weather for most of the year.

Mijas Travel Information 

Mijas is just a short 30minute drive from Malaga Airport. The route is extremely well sign posted along the A7 (N340) heading towards Cádiz and passing Benalmádena on the way. Hire cars and taxis are one option but we recommend an airport transfer for your cheapest and most reliable way to arrive at your Mijas Villa.
