Information on Nice

Nice is a vibrant city situated on the French Riviera.  It has been voted the city where French people would most like to live and it's easy to see why. Nice is blessed with a wonderful climate; beautiful beaches; museums; art galleries (the most of any French city outside Paris); and a carefree joie de vivre attitude to life.

The palm-lined Promenade des Anglais which runs along the waterfront is lined with boutique hotels including the famous Hotel Negresco and is a great place to sit and people watch and take in the great views of the med.  Nice is also famous for its outdoor market found in the Old Town (Vielle Ville).  This is a great place to pick up fresh fruit, veg and flowers at reasonable prices.  The Vielle Ville is really where you get a true sense of Nice in the cobweb of pedestrianised streets brimming with restaurants, cafes, bars and chic boutiques.

Also worth a visit during your stay in Nice is the Palais de Mediterranee, an exclusive hotel and casino situated on the  Promenade des Anglais where you can gamble the night away or enjoy a delicious meal with great views of the Med. 

The Palais de Messena is a must for culture vultures with its amazing architecture and impressionist paintings from the Nice School.  There is also a fascinating collection of costumes, pottery and furniture dedicated to local traditions.  The Cathedrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas was completed in 1912 just prior to the Russian revolution.  This is one of Nice's most famous landmarks and is absolutely magnificent-a must see.

Evenings in Nice are just as pleasurable with a vast array of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from.  Nice also has its own distinctive cuisine which is influenced heavily by its Italian history- absolutely delicious!
