Shopping at home is rarely the relaxing experience you want it to be. It is usually something you squash into a Saturday morning when the shops are heaving. You spend what seems like hours queuing for changing rooms and tills and come away empty handed at the end of a stressful trip. Shopping at El Corte Ingles department store on Mijas Costa could not be further from this experience.
The Plaza de la Constitucion in Fuengirola is really the heart of the town. The pretty square with the striking white church at its centre is popular with locals and tourists alike, and it really comes alive at Christmas though with the arrival of the Christmas market.
All the way up and down the Costa del Sol, each seaside resort offers its own type of weekly market. Bargains are to be had, whether in the form of fresh fruit and vegetables or fish, clothing and knickknacks, as well as the fun of browsing the second-hand flea markets. You’ll find that the various towns have coordinated reasonably well, meaning that every day of the week there is fun, shopping or just browsing to be had.
