Gin is big business these days.  Specialist gin bars are popping up all over the world, serving classic gin and tonics and more exotic gin cocktails.  Spain produces some of the finest gins that are popular with gin enthusiasts the world over; but where better to enjoy a refreshing G&T than in the sunshine on the Costa del Sol?  Here is our pick of the best places to enjoy gin on the Costa del Sol.

Lemon Gin Bar, Fuengirola

Gin bars are springing up all over Fuengirola, but this place remains the favourite for locals, expats and holidaymakers alike.  Located just a few streets away from the Plaza de Constitucion in the heart of Fuengirola, this is a great place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, or after dinner cocktails.  The bar is open until 2am and it has a great ambience and friendly atmosphere.  The staff really know their gins and the menu is constantly changing.  The only problem may be finding somewhere to sit as it is so busy!

Gin Tonic Bar, Malaga

This bar does exactly what it says on the tin…serves gin and tonic.  This is not just any gin and tonic though.  The extensive menu includes over 60 brands of gin from all over the world, plus top quality tonics.  These are served with the perfect accompaniment based on the botanicals in each gin.  Everything from grapefruit, strawberries, grapes, juniper berries and rosemary can be thrown in there.  This is a classy gin bar, made for gin enthusiasts.  The bar is open from 4pm to 2am Monday to Wednesday and 4pm to 3am Thursday to Saturday, so it is a great place to sit and soak up Malaga’s great late-night party atmosphere.

Zafiro Wine & Gin Bar, Benalmadena

Zafiro Bar is nestled up in picturesque Benalmadena Pueblo.  Stylishly furnished and whitewashed in traditional Andalusian style, this is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed gin and tonic.  The gin menu goes on forever, with over 100 gins on offer and more than 20 tonics to compliment them.  The gins range from big brands like Monkey 47 to more specialised, small batch gins like the French Citadelle Reserve Gin.  You could easily spend an evening here sampling the great gins they have on offer.  Zafiro also serve food, which may be a good idea after several strong gins!

Barrocco Café Cocktail Bar, Marbella

Whilst this is not a specialist gin bar, the choice of gins here is extensive.  There are over 40 different gins on offer, along with quality tonics such as Fentimans and Fever Tree.  The location of this bar also makes it great for people watching as it is situated right on the seafront promenade in Marbella.  Another winning feature are its reasonably priced cocktails, which are around half the price of some of those found in nearby bars.  They have a huge range of cocktails, from a classic Margarita to non-alcoholic creations for the designated driver.  This is a friendly, un-pretentious bar where good quality drinks are the main focus.
