The last thing you probably expect to find on Spain’s Costa del Sol is a fabulous Japanese restaurant, but that’s exactly what Akabeko is! Located just 3 minutes’ walk from Torreblanca train station, this is a hidden gem. Akabeko is pretty informal, but for tasty, reasonably priced food with a difference you will struggle to beat it. We particularly recommend the ramen; its super delicious. Main courses are under €10, making this a great choice for a quick bite to eat.

If you like traditional restaurants with white tablecloths and excellent waiter service, this place is for you. Bistro Michel is a cosy restaurant that seats only around 30 customers, so booking is essential. It is open every day from 2pm to 10pm, except Wednesdays. The food served is French-style cuisine with a touch of Spanish influence. There are lots of hearty meat dishes and the Riojas on offer are a perfect accompaniment to these! They also offer a set menu for €13.50, which is fabulous value with a good choice of options for each course.

A trip to the Costa del Sol would not be complete without tapas! This little place serves some of the best we have ever eaten. Gamberros restaurant is open from 5pm to 2am daily, so this is a great place to sit at for hours and enjoy different plates along with a few drinks (they have a good range of gin and tonics too!) Dishes are made fresh each day and they are priced at around €3 each, so this is a great way to sample local cuisine without breaking the bank. The restaurant is located on the seafront and you can also sit outside on the terrace, so its great for watching the world go by.

There are not too many fine dining restaurants in Fuengirola, which is one of the reasons El Deslio is so special. The menu changes regularly and diners are treated to a tasting menu with small plates that showcase the finest local cuisine, with a modern twist.
