The Costa del Sol may be famed for its beaches and year round sunshine but it is also one of the best spots in Europe when it comes to spas and wellness centres.  Spending a few hours at a spa is a lovely way to unwind and completely relax when you are on holiday.  Here are our pick of the top five spas on the Costa del Sol.

As part of the exclusive, five star Hotel Los Monteros Spa & Golf Resort, this wonderful spa offers first class treatments for all its visitors.  Spa facilities include a Turkish bath, a Hamman (like a Turkish bath but at a slightly lower temperature); Finnish sauna; a saltwater pool heated to 33 degrees Celsius; hydromassage beds and a foot bath to sooth aching feet.  You can spend 45 minutes in the Thermal Circuit Spa, using all of the facilities listed above, for just 30€.  If you want to extend your stay you can pay 50€ for 90 minutes in here.

This adults only Thalasso spa, part of the Barcelo Estepona Hotel, offers guests complete relaxation in decadent surroundings.  The spa features a large pool with more than 20 different ‘stations’ including air water beds, waterfalls, massage jets an bench bubbles to sooth any aches and pains.  There is also a Finnish sauna, a Hamman, ice fountain and all different kinds of showers.  Visitors can use all of these facilities for 30€ for 20 minutes.

There are lots of amazing treatments on offer, from body peels, Hindu head massages, to sports massage and special treatments for mothers-to-be.  There are also anti-ageing treatments usng radiofrequency that stimulates collagen in your skin, so you could leave looking younger than when you arrived on holiday!

La Cala Spa is offers visitors an extensive array of holistic therapies and massage treatments in beautiful surroundings.    The spa’s ‘thermal circuit’ is a sequence of thermal bathing and sensory therapies that will help you to completely unwind.  This includes Aroma steam rooms, Turkish Hamman, tropical rain showers, indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools, igloos, Kneipp foot baths, and a healing crystal sauna.  Visitors can pay from just 20€ for a 90 minute use of the thermal circuit.  This rises to 32€ if you use the facilities on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, but it is still excellent value for money.  (Please note prices are subject to change in peak times.)

The spa uses Anne Semonin skin products for its range of body treatments, from a 45 minute ‘Rasul Ritual’ which includes a mud bath and exfoliating therapy, to a 90 minute ‘Andalucian Ritual’ which removes dead skin cells and deep moisturises your skin.

The spa uses Dermalogica products for their extensive range of facial treatments.  There are also holistic treatments available like Indian head massages and reflexology.  There are treatments to suit everyone, from mothers to be, to bespoke treatments just for men.

The Don Carlos Resort is synonymous with sophistication, and the hotels spa is no exception.  The ‘Oasis’ wellness area of the spa is 1600sqm of hydrotherapy pools, steam baths, a sauna, plunge pools and different showers offering massage therapy.  Visitors can use this area of the spa for 65€ for 90 minutes.

There are also 8 treatment rooms in the spa, offering therapies and treatments from all over the world; Thai massage, Chinese Shiatsu medicine, reflexology and hot stone massages are just some of the treatments on offer.  The spa uses Thalgo and Carita products for its facial therapies

Couples can treat themselves to a package that offers exclusive use of the private VIP suite in the spa, plus two 30 minute massages and refreshments for 320€, the perfect way to spend some time together while you are on holiday.

The IPV Palace and Spa is a large 4 star resort in Fuengirola that offers an extensive range of health, beauty and wellness treatments.  Their ‘Initivm’ hydrothermal circuit has a heated, dynamic swimming pool with underwater jets, a swan neck jet, waterfall and Jacuzzi.  There is also a dry area with sauna, Roman bath and a Turkish bath.  All of the treatments on offer at the spa include this hydrothermal circuit.

If you want a spa where you can be completely pampered and beautified from top to toe, this is the place to go.  The spa offers everything from foot reflexology to electro-simulating slimming treatments and a range of facials.  You can also have beauty and hair dressing treatments including manicures, pedicures and deep conditioning hair masks.

Packages are also available at very reasonable prices.  The ‘Express Treatment’ includes a body peel, detox body wrap and facial massage for just 35€.
